YES-EU Builds One of the Largest Battery Storage Systems in Kerava – Finland
Kerava BESS
YES-EU successfully installed and commissioned one of the largest battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Kerava, Finland, in autumn 2021.
The installed BESS has an impressive energy storage capacity of 22MWh and a discharge capacity of 11MW. In addition to cost reduction, reliability, resource conservation and environmental efficiency, the system is helping the country achieve its goal of being carbon neutral by 2035.
YES-EU battery energy storage
The batteries used in this project are manufactured by one of the largest battery manufacturers in the world and YES-EU’s long-time partner, CATL. CATL is a global leader in innovative new energy technologies, providing world-class solutions and services for new energy applications around the world. The implemented lithium ferro-phosphate (LFP) batteries have a discharge rate of 0.5C and a lifetime of 10+ years.
The entire structure was composed of several BESS cubes connected in parallel and in series to achieve the desired system. The entire system was connected to the national 20 kV grid and serves as a power reserve, frequency regulator as well as an emergency power supply for the nearby factory.
The engineering team at YES-EU, which participated in the development of BESS in Kerava, is well versed in certification requirements and applicable standards, ensuring successful, high-quality product delivery on time and fully adjusted to client’s needs.
Each YES-EU BESS project is tailored to the client’s required capacity, available space and region. A wide range of BESS solutions are available, from units housed in containers to those installed in dedicated buildings. In addition, YES-EU ‘s energy storage systems are available worldwide for anyone in need of BESS solution. With a long track record, a global presence and an unparalleled installed base, YES-EU strives to become a leading player in the clean electricity generation and storage market.
